I began working at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine (LSU SVM) as the Public Relations Graduate Assistant on August 3, 2015. As of August 15, 2016, I began working full-time and am now the Public Relations Coordinator.
In the time that I have been here, I have assisted the Communications Manager and Director of Strategic Communication in every department the hospital and school offers. Within the building there are technically four departments, which are Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Pathobiological Sciences, Comparative Biomedicial Sciences and the School of Veterinary Medicine.
My job responsibilities at the LSU SVM include website management for each department, which includes faculty profiles, event listings, general hospital information, emergency announcements, among other content. During my time here, I have increased Facebook likes by 300%, engagement by 30% and contributed to 60% of the content on the school’s Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram pages, as well as the LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s Facebook page, which have a collective audience of more than 20,350 followers. I also manage 11 other LSU SVM related pages, which includes compiling a monthly social media report for page admins. Communication management at the LSU SVM also includes managing and contributing content to social media, which include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, writing and editing press releases that have been featured in People Magazine, ESPN.com, Baton Rouge Business Report, Nola.com and the Advocate, among others. I also create marketing campaigns, conduct communication research, film and edits videos content, as well as create content for two weekly newsletters, News and Notes and HResources. Through my experience with Adobe Photoshop and Indesign, I have created promotional items including brochures, flyers, invitations, banners, among other items for the hospital and vet school.
